About Rae:
I'm a student, attending a state
college in my home state of Rhode Island. To remain true to my love
of literature, I'm majoring in English and minoring in Literature. I
aspire, of course, to be a writer. Outside of reading and writing, I
like baking, motorcycling, and Netflixing (is that a word?). I'm a
die hard Star Wars fan and grew up engrossed in the world of the
Expanded Universe. (Shout out to Disney for de-legitimizing us!) As a
kid, the works of such persons as JRR Tolkien, Madeline L'Engle, and
C.S. Lewis really helped to develop my imagination and passion for
far flung worlds and heroic deeds. It's no surprise then that the
genres that I enjoy reading in the most are science fiction and
fantasy, but, honestly, give me anything with a binding and printed
pages and I will devour that right up. Alina and I decided that to
introduce ourselves, we should make a list of our Top Ten Reads of
All Time, but neither of us could actually come up with ten books
that surpassed that bar. So here are my nine!
Top Ten (Or Nine) Favorite Reads:
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
East of Eden by John Steinbeck
The Book of Lost Things by John Connelly
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingslover
The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
The Tempest by William Shakespeare
A Song of Fire and Ice (All of them!) by George RR Martin
About Alina: I'm an introvert, passionate reader, sometime baker, and during-class crocheter. I'm currently a graduate student in something that has nothing to do with literature, living away from home for what feels like the first time and not entirely enjoying it. Ah, well. My book tastes are rather all over the place, except when it comes to violence and gratuitous sex--no, thank you. I love reading and writing, possibly why I'm in graduate school, and this seemed like a great way to combine them!
And, most important of all, my top ten books/series (in absolutely no order):
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling
Narnia series by C. S. Lewis
The Neverending Story by Michael Ende
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
A Wind in the Door by Madeleine L'Engle
A Wind in the Door by Madeleine L'Engle
